Abstract
Recognition of metastatic solid tumor in leptomeninges was important because its benefit gave the initiation of appropriate treatment at an earlier stage of disease. Meningeal carcinomatosis has been found to be a relatively common complication of systemic cancer and its incidence has been increasing. The identification of tumor cells in CSF was the most specific test for leptomeningeal arcinomatosis. CSF analysis has expanded in the field of biochemical and immunologic identification of certain CSF tumor markers with repeated cytocentrifugation. We report 3 cases of meningeal carcinomatosis(from breast, stomach, lung) which show presence of tumor in cytocentrifugation, elevated LD, fraction in all three cases and elevated CEA levels in two of three cases.
